Hi! I’m Sam Burrows, the human behind Sam I Am Ceramics! I am a ceramic artist based out of Rockville, Maryland. In high school, I was introduced to clay and absolutely fell in love with the medium. I had the incredible opportunity to create a 6 foot totem for a collaboration between Strathmore and the DC Metro. It was then that I knew clay would be an important part of my life. I minored in art while studying at the University of Delaware and then lived in a small town where I didn’t have access to a studio. When I moved back to Maryland, I worked at an art museum, where some really incredible folks encouraged me to get back to art and get my hands back on some clay! I found an incredible studio with the most amazing mentor, that I have started to not only create my own art, but take steps toward teaching others and learning the ins and outs of the medium! I started Sam I Am Ceramics to create quality handmade pieces to bring some joy to people’s days and hopefully bring some love and connection in a world that is so disjointed (to say the least). If I’m able to make someone smile from my work, I will consider it a job well done!
